Michael Campbell, the Bishop of Lancaster, celebrated Mass at the newly created shrine church of St Thomas of Canterbury and the English Martyrs on Sunday. He has given this - second church - to the Canons of the Institute of Christ the King, with the specific hope that they will be able to breathe new life into this beautiful place of worship.
I would very much have liked to be present - it's just four miles away - but my Masses in the parish kept me here.
It is surely good to see bishops reaching out to where there are vocations and a strong drive to re-evangelise to ask such people in to bring their talents and drive to otherwise struggling areas of the Church.
May God bless their endeavours.

I wish we had even one such Church in Scotland.
