Pope Benedict to the rescue

A very interesting read by Dr. Samuel Gregg entitled "Regensburg Revisited: Ten Years Later, A West Still in Denial"  on the Catholic World Report site.  The Western world, with the roots of its civilization in Christianity, desperately needs to rediscover is dependence on these foundations if it is to survive, to protect itself, understand itself or to engage with other world philosophies (Islam or any other) in any meaningful manner.

This is not an attack on Islam or anything else but rather a reflection on where the "Christian" West is going so wrong.

Dr Gregg gives, what I think, is an excellent analysis of some of our western problems and in the process reminds us of what a great thinker and leader Pope Benedict has been. If only our political leaders would stop running from the Faith that might give them the "coherence", "family values", "social justice" and "human rights" that they speak about so much but fail to find any philosophical basis to actually achieve.
