High Mass for November

(Click on the picture to enlarge and read the story of the relics.)

I'm helping to prepare for High Mass at the beautiful church of Our Lady Star of the Sea, Crescent Road, Seaforth Village,Liverpool. L21 4LJ this Saturday at 12 noon.  The chants of the Requiem Mass will be enhanced with some music from Byrd sung by the Octavius Chamber Choir, under the leadership of Mr David Scott-Thomas.  It will be offered jointly for the repose of the souls of   deceased Members, Friends and Benefactors of the Latin Mass Society and the Order of St Lazarus.

If you can get along, do make the effort.  The High Altar there is very impressive and over the years the church has been beautifully restored.  Interestingly, the altar contains some relics of St Francis of Assisi, dating from the 1818 excavations in the Assisi Basilica.

Incidentally, as there are quite a number of people travelling, we are also providing lunch at the nearby Royal Hotel, Marine Terrace at Waterloo. The Hotel overlooks Crosby Beach, home to ‘Another Place’, the sculpture by internationally acclaimed artist, Antony Gormley.

Mass is, of course, open to all, but if you would like to come to the lunch it is £10 per person. Please contact me here at the parish on 01772 421174.
